Aldridge         

Aldridge is a town near Walsall. It was first mentioned in the Domesday Book named as 'Alrewic' or Alder Village. 

Aldrige used to be an industrial town and it was famous for its coal mines and lime kilns. Much evidence of this industrial past remains in the old industrial buildings that can be found in and around the Walsall area.

Aldrige increased in size as a result of congestion in Birmingham. It is mainly residential althogh there are some industrial estates and modern shops along its High Street. 

Aldridge is part of the Walsall Metropolitan Council.
