Just who are the writers and creative journalists of the West Midlands? We know of Judith Cutler and her crime novels and other notable authors from latter day times such as Tolkien. However, where are the journalists?. The Birmingham Words website has some well written articles and topics of interest, but who writes good content on a regular basis? Where do you find it? Who produces that local news and presents an alternative view of the latest hot topic?

Does the West Midlands suffer from a lack of inspiration? I must have visited all of the local and regional websites and message forums before I came to the conclusion that I might have to stick with London or look further afield. There are quite a few personal blogs of individuals with interesting stories to tell but very little in the way of original news or information content.

The Press and the Media are dominated by the larger institutions. A voice for the people of any city is not easy to find. There is a distinct lack of material available for the reader who seeks an unbiased opinion or a non conformist environment where the expression of personal opinion is regarded as more important than mainstream media.

I congratulate you on your presentation and format of this website. A little too much standard news from Wikipedia perhaps but then that is not surprising when good writers are hard to come by. Some of the individual articles and work provided here would seem to be from news feeds or content providers although there is evidence of individual local contributions too ( e.g Fox Hunting, IKEA, Anchor Exchange and Full Frontal )

Journalists and writers need to be persistent and motivated. I have yet to meet a successful columnist who waited to be approached by a contractor. Spread the word and keep writing. Interestingly enough, whilst your website may well be easy to find on the search engines I actually located you through your blogs. A quick search on Google demonstrates where some of the material on this site is being used by mainstream news feeds. Congratulations.
