Watersmeet, National TrustWatersmeet is an area of outstanding natural beauty near Lynmouth in Devon. The National Trust have a 19th century former fishing lodge which is situated in a deep gorge. This building which was built around 1832 is now a National Trust Shop which also serves refreshments and provides information. Note that the Tea Room can get exceptionally busy and people have been known to queue for some time to get served at peak times. Watersmeet has two river gorges with paths along each. The woodland and hills are very steep once you move away from the river bed. There are some spectacular waterfalls. If you intend on a long walk make sure that you have paid and displayed the correct amount as it is a long walk back up to the car just to top up your parking ticket.
