The County of Somerset

Countryside and Coast

Somerset provides some excellent coastline and wonderful countryside scenery. A truly diverse county famous for it's cider making and with a very different landscape from the one our ancestors would have been accustomed too.

Much of Somerset used to be under water and drainage work began as early as Roman times. The land has since been reclaimed and most of the marshland has now disappeared.

Somerset has a wide variety of attractions, historic buildings, idyllic country villages and busy coastal resorts. The Mendip Hills provide a hiking paradise with breathtaking natural beauty and panoranic views.
