Introducing Your Guide

Charlie Roberts knows a thing or two about the Big House and its history. He has spent the last 8 years as Chauffeur and Attendant to the Mayor. Our Mayor is also often seen guiding parties around the Big House. Both take an active interest in its history and the tradition of the Mayor's role and the various activities.

Visitors range from school trips to foreign delegates. There are also training rooms in the Big House which are used for a variety of different functions.

The Big House is home to several important artifacts and historical items of interest. For security reasons the collection of silver has to be held securely in the council vaults but from time to time this is displayed for important functions and for historical interest.

In this section Charlie takes us on a guided tour of the building and explains the history behind the displays and artifacts in each room. Travel around the Big House by selecting the room of your interest from the menu below:

Mayor's Parlour, PO Box 2374, The Big House, Oldbury, West Midlands, B69 3DE. Tel: 0121 569 3041.
