in the West Midlands
The West Midlands is not noted for its abundance of
National Trust properties. Visitors tend to imagine
an urban sprawl with little or no countryside and expect
factories rather than magnificient manor houses. In
fact, nothing could be further from the truth. The dark
satanic mills have all but gone. Large areas of open
countryside still exist in the West Midlands and there
are some fine National Trust properties around the region.
In addition to the country houses and manors listed
here there are open tracts of land owned and managed
by the National Trust. Some of these include the Clent
Hills in Worcestershire and the 'Long Mynd' in Shropshire.
The National Trust also owns land at Wenlock Edge. We
have attempted to list here the main National Trust
