Christmas Market

It takes place in Birmingham every year. Nearly 200 stalls full of the delights of Christmas and organised by those that know best how Christmas should be - the Germans.

Birmingam Frankfurt Christmas Market has been a roaring success year on year now and it just continues to get bigger and better. Genuine German products are on sale servied by genuine German people with geinuine German food.

Over 2 million visitors come to the Christmas Market. It is the largest truly authentic German Market outside of Germany.

Mulled wine and marzipan, German beer and sausages, its got the lot and the stalls are all decked out in decorations.

The Christmas market opens in November and lasts right through until Christmas. It is a regular event for the city of Birmingham and demonstrates the strong bond between its partner town Frankfurt.

ArtsFest Festival

Birmingham is now home to the UK's largest free Arts Festival. This is a popular event and well attended with thousands flocking to join in the fun.

The festival is essentially a showcase for comedy acts, music, dance, art and drama. A variety of diverse acts can be found performing at the festival. 

Crowds can find classical music, jazz, rock, bhangra and reggae. There is something for everyone at the ArtsFest Festival.

In September 2009 the ArtsFest Birmingham got itself an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records as a result of 857 people dancing the Bhangra together for 12 minutes.

Over 270,000 people are thought to have attended the events and venues of the September festival. 

This is an annual event that has taken place since 1997 and whch involves theatres, concert halls and various outdoor arenas. 

The centre of the activity takes place around Centenary Square but there is also plenty of activity in Chamberlain Square, Brindleyplace and the Custard Factory.

The event is organised by the Birmingham City Council and funding is provided by both commercial and non-commercial organisations.
