Getting Around

The West Midlands region has easy access to all parts of the UK. Only 104 miles from London, 250 miles from Glasgow and 90 miles from Cardiff. Getting around is far easier than in the capital. Birmingham and the West Midlands boasts a host of transport links, an efficient bus and taxi service and a metro system. The Airbus from Birmingham city centre centre shuttles commuters to the airport every 30 minutes. Birmingham Airport in itself is a major international airport and right next to the National Exhibition Centre. Motorway links are good too with the M42 acting as the equivelant to the M25, though unlike the M25 in cannot claim to be Britains biggest parking lot.

If you are a tourist visiting Birmingham you will soon be familiar with the distinctive blue livery of West Midlands Travel. If you are travelling to more than one location try their day passes rather than purchasing a ticket each time you need to go somewhere. From the city centre in Victoria Square you can catch the open top bus and take a guided tour round the city with a guide who will provide an amusing and informative commentary about Birmingham.
