German Christmas Market

This is one of the biggest markets of its kind in the UK. Each year the German Market sets up its stalls in Victoria Square and along New Street. A wide variety of traders selling crystals, glassware, jewellery, handmade artifacts, German food, toys and a wide range of festive traditional decorations.

Set out in a series of wooden huts stretching from Victoria Square right down New Street, the customer has the opportunity to purchase some unique and unusual Christmas gifts. Apart from the market there is also a stage where live music is performed and a visit to the German beer tent is a must. This year saw a formal opening by the German Ambassador, complete with a brass band from Frankfurt and a local choir. This certainly livens up New Street and brings a good atmosphere to the city centre.
