German Christmas Market

This is one of the biggest markets of its kind in the UK. Each year the German Market sets up its stalls in Victoria Square and along New Street.

A wide variety of traders selling crystals, glassware, jewellery, handmade artifacts, toys and a wide range of festive traditional decorations.

Set out in a series of wooden huts stretching from Victoria Square right down New Street, the customer has the opportunity to purchase some unique and unusual Christmas gifts. Apart from the market there is also a stage where live music is performed and a visit to the German beer tent is a must.

Each year the Frankfurt Christmas market in Birmingham receives around 2 million visitors. There are over 180 stalls. There is a real Christmas atmosphere with mulled wine being served on several stalls

Much of the food on offer is German so there are plenty of grilled sausages, German beer and gingerbread. Many stalls serve freshly cooked food each and every day.

This is now a regular Birmingham event. In 2009 the Christmas market will run from Thursday 12th November to Wednesday 23rd December. It will start every morning at 10am and close in the evenings at 9pm.
