The signing of the joint declaration of the 51st State of the United States of America took place at Buckingham Palace today and brought these two great nations together under a one president one prime minister Federal State union. In effect this means that George Bush will act as President for the United States 51st State ( formerly Great Britain ) and Tony Blair will continue to act as Prime
Minister. This is common practice in many countries around the world and certainly gives no cause for alarm.
Britain will still retain its own identity as of course many States in the USA already do.
The main changes are purely constitutional and monetary.
The Queen will continue to administer the Commonwealth and act as Head of State as she always has done. One major concession is
in currency changes as we see the British pound replaced by its stronger counterpart the dollar.
This is certainly a most historic event and has come as a great suprise to most of the nation. Certain EEC countries have raised strong objections and there are talks as to whether Britain's membership in the EEC is now legitimate. These are side issues that will need to be addressed as we move on to
streamline the joining of these two great nations in the forming of the 51st State.
Perhaps one of the hardest tasks is the integration of the armed forces. The US Navy will take up a new operations base in Plymouth and RAF Brize Norton & RAF Northolt will form part of tactical air defense of the USA/UK armed forces. All uniforms will be standardised as per existing US Forces military combat colors and regalia.
The celebrations were dampened by political activists holding protest marches in Whitehall against the visit by President Bush. Rioting occured when the new announcements for the 51st State were declared by Her Majesty the Queen. LPD ( London Police Department ) reacted with force hitherto not seen in this country as they adopted a zero tolerance attitude towards the activists. Both Bush and Blair promised the nation that
positive steps would be taken to ensure that crime in Britain would be reduced drastically and that both the USA mainland and the 51st State would work positively towards stamping out drug trafficking and international terrorism.
This is very positive news for the West Midlands as US Steel tariffs no longer apply and all goods distributed between mainland USA and the 51st State of Britain ( The 51st state of Britain is the official state title as use of the word United in both United Kingdom and United States would be confusing ) are free from import and export tariffs. The most incredible change for 51st State US Citizens is gasoline coming down to a mere 90p per gallon.
Prices in the UK are set to drop in line with lower priced consumer goods in USA mainland. Sterling took a sharp rise in the money markets prior to its pegging against the US dollar at 11 a.m. this morning and UK stocks were up 11% by mid morning.
As we go to press it has just been announced that the Senate have approved a $24 billion dollar transitional grant to assist Britain in changes of legislation, conversion to Federal Law, Civil and Military merger costs and conversion of road signposting to right hand drive readiness which is expected to take several months.
Objections to standard US speed limits of 55 mph have caused some debate and Highway Patrol Officers are allowed a degree of leniency and tolerance during the transitional period.
WMPD ( West Midlands Police Department ) spokesman Gerry Logan on secondment from Chicago FBI did not anticipate this being an issue.
Our president has said that he welcomes comments from all citizens of the Union and we look forward to hearing from you as representatives of the West Midlands region of this great State of the United States of America.
God Bless the 51st State of Britain
