Alternative Aid for India Development (AID UK)
AID is a registered charity founded in India in 1982. It grew from lower caste and the tribal community movements
in rural India. We have had an office in Birmingham since 1987. The UK office was set up to help the Asian community in the UK fight poverty in India.
AID in India currently works in over 1300 villages in North and South India, where we have a number of projects including:
* Provision of safe water
* Women's Empowerment projects
* Elimination of child labour in the Carpet and Mining Sectors
* Environmental programmes
* Health and reproductive programmes
In the UK, AID has been working to increase awareness of global issues amongst Asian and other Ethnic minority groups.
